Facebook groups
There are many regional permaculture groups on Facebook. Some are more active than others. In Florida, The Florida Permaculture Community group was started and is administered by a number of permaculture designers in the region. We can’t vouch for the accuracy in other groups and there is a lot of opinion flying around on social media, as you may have noticed. But we do try to monitor that group and keep the information in it accurate.
We also have a Grow Permaculture Graduates group which you are welcome to join! Just add your name and we’ll approve you.
Permaculture convergences
These are unique events that are similar to conferences, but with a permaculture flair. People camp out and bring their own food in many cases. There are speakers who share further expertise but also community building activities for regional groups. There are regional convergences throughout most of the world. Each one has its own unique flavor. We suggest attending different versions if you can.
Northern Calif, the NW, and NE, and SE (in Asheville usually) have well established communities - it’s good to see what those are like, and meet other veterans at those events. As well, PINA holds online Summits every few years, and other organizations, like Global Earth Repair run by veteran permaculture designer Michael Pilarski, hold conferences and other events.
Other local related groups
Timebanks, seed swaps, community gardens and other local activities already exist in many places in Florida (though we can always use more), and are great places to meet like minded people and get involved.
