If you have an existing structure, which most people do, this section would be used to determine how you could increase passive heating and cooling or other desirable energy capture by modifying the land around it.

If you are building, note how far down this is in priority. That is because you can put a building anywhere on your land, but you probably can’t move that hill that could cause a landslide into it - or the flood plain - nearly as easily. Many people have a feel for where they want to put their home.

The question is, does it make sense in context of all of the above factors? Could modifying the position of the home reduce risk from disaster or increase passive heating and cooling yield, or create more practical access that you’ll be glad of 10 years in?
