Hands On Activity
Go onto your land or other land, and observe any wild places on it. Note what is growing on it and how. Do this with several different areas.
Go to a park where there is a wild section (unmowed, unmanaged), and observe what is growing at different heights in the forest.
Sit for a while in the forest and just observe, with all of your senses.
This exercise, though simple, will help you become a better gardener and a better designer.
